Keynote: The state of art of public engagement in science in Latin America

In my presentation, I will present the state of the art of public engagement in science in Latin America, including aspects related to practical activities, research in the field, academic training and policies, based on white papers and books carried out in the scope of RedPOP, the Network of Science and Technology Popularisation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Luisa Massarani is a Brazilian science communicator, who has been carrying out practical activities and research in science communication since 1987. She works at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, a research institution, where she is the head of the master in Communication of Science, Technology and Health. She is also the head of the Brazilian Institute of Public Communication of Science and Technology and the editor for Latin America of SciDev.Net, a website on science and development in the developing world. She was the director of RedPOP, the network for science communication in Latin American and the Caribbean in 2014-2017.
